Will Timberwolves move Robert Covington?
Kevin O’Connor from the Ringer discusses Covington and how Houston is showing interest in the good on defense, “three and D wing” on a decent contract. Bri would like to see Covington traded to the Warriors with whatever else would be needed, (e.g. a pick or player), so the T Wolves could get De Angelo Russell in return from the Warriors. De Angelo will not be a starting guard for the Warriors next year with Steph and Klay returning. The Wolves showed interest in Russell last year, he would be a clear upgrade at point guard for the Wolves and age wise he fits nicely with Towns and Wiggins.
Which Oklahoma City veterans will be traded before the deadline?
Chris Paul, Danilo Galinari, Dennis Schroeder and Steven Adams have all been mentioned as potential trade candidates We are struggling to find a team that will take on Chris Paul’s huge $ contract. Schroder will likely move to a playoff caliber team in search of an upgrade at back up point guard, we just don’t know which one. Bri likes a Galinari trade to the Mavericks for Dwight Powell and Golden State’s pick next year (currently 32nd). Dallas would move the Zinger to center with “Gallo” playing power forward and Luka handling the ball. Oklahoma City would gain more young assets. Steven Adams could be traded to Boston for one of their young wings but with Boston playing so well and the NBA de-valuing traditional centers we are not sure Boston would be willing to take on Adams and his contract (I believe $20MM ish per year).
Who finally lands the anxious to be traded Kevin Love?
The Blazers (for Whiteside and/or Bazemore’s expiring contracts); The Nuggets for Paul Millsap (expiring deal) and the Suns for some combination of picks and young talent (e.g. Kelly Oubre) have all been mentioned as landing spots for Love ($90MM, 3 years left at the end of this year) who wants to play for a playoff contender. Bri likes Kevin Love to Miami for Justice Winslow (not currently starting for the Heat) and picks/another player. In this scenario the much improved Bam Adebayo, (who is posting surprisingly strong assist numbers), moves back to center. A Heat closing lineup of Nunn/Dragic; Hero (outside shooting whiz rookie); Butler; Love and Bam would be a real threat in the East playoffs.
Where does Iggy land?
Andre Iguodala has not played a minute this year for the struggling Grizzlies who will move him. The Lakers, Clippers and Rockets have all been rumored but Bri likes the Nuggets for Iggy. He has played in Denver before and if Denver would either Beazley (they did not extend him this summer) or Michael Porter Jr-who is not getting minutes on a good Denver team but would for Memphis, this could be a nice trade for both teams.
